Practise at low stakes. Start with fictional, public or easily reversible tasks.
Use current official sources. Let AI explain changing facts, not replace the responsible authority.
Ask for the reasoning. Identify what is unclear and restate the explanation yourself.
Test for bias. Ask for assumptions, counterexamples and other perspectives.
Keep responsibility human. AI can suggest. You decide and own the consequences.
Match help to learning. Use hints and feedback while keeping the target skill for yourself.

Everyday pathway

Bring your own draft first. Ask AI to challenge and diagnose it without replacing the practice.
Trace important claims to an appropriate source. Confidence and agreement are not evidence.
Ask for assumptions and counterarguments. Agreement alone may not improve the reasoning.
Use AI to compare, then verify and decide. Responsibility remains human.
Record what changed and what remains unknown. Make the learning visible.
Generalise sensitive situations. Check policy before using real information.
Ask for the smallest next debugging test. Keep the reasoning practice with you.
Check changing facts at a current official source. Use AI to support interpretation.

Use representative held-out evaluations. Define rubrics, slices, failures and release thresholds.
Bound automation by risk. Limit permissions and escalate ambiguous or consequential actions.
Treat external content as untrusted. Separate instructions, constrain tools and confirm sensitive actions.
Preserve claim-level provenance. Record and verify authoritative sources, passages and versions.
Test calibration and abstention. Compare confidence with outcomes and route uncertain cases safely.
Govern the data lifecycle. Approve purpose, minimise access, set retention and test for leakage.
Fix the workflow before chasing model size. Diagnose errors and choose against measured thresholds.
